Reimagining an Artifact
This project focuses on the reconstruction of a chosen artifact and how it can be reimagined in 17 years. The redesign for Converse high tops takes the future of technology, society, and the physical state of Earth into consideration all while researching the aesthetic, and cultural and historical contexts of the artifact.
It will be essential for the future of the fashion and footwear industry to include sustainability and ethical processes in order to minimize the impacts on the environment during manufacturing and distribution processes.
The reconstructed Converse is a 3in1 utility hiking style shoe that focuses on comfort, durability, and functionality all while preserving the essence of the Converse brand and its original intentions towards athletics. The shoe comes in two parts, the outside utility sandal which is meant to be worn alone in hotter seasons, the inner sneaker for warm to cool seasons, and both together for the coldest seasons as a boot.
The interchangeable shoe targets the needs of a diverse consumer market as well as reduces wastage production and the necessity of having multiple pairs of shoes for various types of weather throughout the year.
The Converse 3in1 is reimagined to be completely produced from recycled and natural materials, taking inspiration from the company’s eco-friendly notions, Converse Renew and Converse ReUSE. This is demonstrated through the series of rebranding advertisements.
